Seedream 5.0 Lite is ByteDance Seed's image generation and editing model, which ByteDance describes as a unified multimodal model with stronger reasoning and broader world knowledge. In the GenTidy web studio, Seedream 5.0 Lite generates 2K images for 10 credits per generation, and each generation record is saved to your account with its prompt.
What is Seedream 5.0 Lite?
Seedream 5.0 Lite is an image model from the ByteDance Seed team that creates new images from text and edits or combines existing images from reference inputs. ByteDance's model page calls it "a unified multimodal image generation model endowed with deep thinking and online search capabilities."

What ByteDance says improved over Seedream 4.x
ByteDance says the main gains in Seedream 5.0 Lite are in understanding, reasoning and generation, not in resolution or speed. In its announcement, the Seed team lists three areas:
- Understanding and generation. Better cross-modal reasoning, more accurate handling of vague instructions, and improved subject consistency and image-text alignment.
- World knowledge. Outputs that follow physical laws more closely and stronger information visualization, which matters for infographics and diagrams.
- Real-time search. Access to up-to-date information for time-sensitive images. This is a model-level option on BytePlus's API; GenTidy does not use it.

How to use Seedream 5.0 Lite in GenTidy
You use Seedream 5.0 Lite in the GenTidy web studio by picking a layout and style, writing a prompt and generating. The steps:
- Pick a layout such as a product main image, a timeline infographic or a four-panel comic. See infographic templates and ecommerce templates.
- Pick a style reference, for example one of the traditional Chinese styles.
- Write your prompt: the subject, any exact text in quotes, and the aspect ratio.
- Add reference images if you have them. You can upload up to 4 reference images and use Seedream for image-to-image work, such as keeping a product's shape or a character's look.
- Generate. Each 2K image's generation record is saved to your account with its prompt, so you can find it and generate again later.

Seedream responds best to plain, specific sentences rather than keyword lists. Three habits help most:
- Describe subject, action and setting in natural language, then add style, color, lighting and composition. BytePlus's own guidance recommends coherent sentences over keyword piles.
- Put any on-image text in double quotes and say where it goes, for example: a title reading "Morning Routine" at the top.
- Keep it focused. BytePlus recommends staying under about 600 English words (or 300 Chinese characters); long prompts can cause the model to drop details.
