How to write a Seedance prompt

A Seedance prompt works best when it follows BytePlus's official formula: subject, then movement, then environment, camera movement and aesthetic description. BytePlus treats everything after subject and movement as optional.

Subject + Movement + Environment + Camera movement + Aesthetic

Example:

A ceramic coffee mug with steam rising slowly, on a wooden café table by a window. The camera pushes in slowly from a medium shot to a close-up. Warm morning light, soft focus background, calm mood.

BytePlus also recommends degree words such as "slowly" or "gradually" and describing the subject by consistent features. For more examples, see Seedance 1.5 Pro prompts.

Image first, then video: a GenTidy workflow

The most controllable way to make a Seedance clip in GenTidy is to create the key frame as an image first, then animate it. The workflow:

  1. Generate the key frame with Seedream 5.0 Lite using a layout and style you like.
  2. Add that image, plus one more if you like, as a reference image for Seedance 1.5 Pro.
  3. Write a short motion prompt: what moves, how the camera moves, and the mood.
  4. Pick the aspect ratio, for example 9:16 for a vertical social clip, and generate a 5-second 720p video.

Reusing the same style wording from your image prompt keeps the clip consistent with the still. For ready-made image prompts, see Seedream prompts.
